The 2012 Storytelling Festival is Almost Here!
Hear ye, hear ye! School-aged youngsters with a story to tell are invited to participate in the 32nd Annual Tampa-Hillsborough County Storytelling Festival on April 21, 2012. This free event, which will once again be held at historic Hillsborough High School, is believed to be the largest and oldest of its kind at which children are the predominant storytellers.
Workshops for all children who wish to learn to tell a story or brush up on their skills are available at libraries throughout the county. Topics include choosing a suitable story to tell, learning a story, and how to breathe life into your story. There is no charge for these workshops. Those children who wish to tell their story in front of an audience are then evaluated and recommended as a Festival storyteller.
Can’t make it to a workshop? Interactive storytelling lessons are now available on the library’s website for use by parents and children who wish to work at home, or teachers who wish to teach storytelling in their classrooms. Additionally, storytelling kits for select titles and genres are available to check out.
For more information about this and other FREE programs @ your library®, call (813) 273-3652 or visit http://www.hcplc.org/.
