Diwali

Hindus around the world will ring in their New Year on October 28 during the 5-day festival of Diwali. This colorful and joyous holiday is a spiritual celebration of the victory by good over evil and is marked by fireworks, sweets, and family gatherings. In India, homes are completely cleaned and filled with lights (often special clay lamps known as diyas) in order to gain the blessing of Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth. Is it any wonder Diwali is also known as the “Festival of Lights.”
